#LashTipTuesday: Can a woman get lash extensions while pregnant?

Have you been "busy" during quarantine and are wondering if you'll still be able to do some of the things you could do before? Like getting your lashes done. Is a new client coming to you with an "extra" guest and you want to be sure that she can still get in that "Me" time with minimal interruptions and discomfort? Below I briefly explain that it is still possible for any client with child can still get serviced.

At around 20 weeks of the pregnancy, your client should not be laying on her back. While laying down, the weight of her uterus can cause a major blood vessel that'll disrupt the blood flow to the baby and cause symptoms of nausea, dizziness, and shortness of breathe for her which is called vena cava. So you always want to make sure that your client is comfortable before beginning the service but with your moms-to-be, you'll have to make sure their level of comfort is great! Having knee pillows on hand will definitely be a life-saver.

Key Tip: For the most comfort, have your client lay down on her side with her head facing up. This gives her the opportunity to shift all that extra weight and actually be comfortable (or as much as she possibly could be).

Try to incorporate small breaks into the service where you only work on one eye at a time or to work at a steady pace in case she may need to sit up or stretch out. The unborn baby could put pressure alongside her bladder and other muscles/organs and cause the urge to urinate. These breaks would be extremely beneficial to the expectant mother as well as to you, the Lash artist.

With maintenance, the expectant mother would be looking to possibly fill in her lashes sooner rather than later because her hormones are now heightened and that definitely causes premature shedding. The hormones can throw off your maintenance schedule so if you were coming in every 2- 3 weeks for a refill, that time could be cut in half just because of what the body is going through regardless of how good you take of your lashes.
